Description:

JSY-11S surge arester counter is a device for recording the operation times of a lightning arrester under the lightning arrester connecting in series. It is applicable to lightning arrester with grade not exceeding 220KV. The environmental condition of using site is the same to the connecting lightning arresters. It is not applicable to places with heavy pollution and strenuous vibration. It applies zinc oxide varistor and has relative improvement on the electrical performance.

Using conditions:

  • It is applicable to exterior or interior.

  • Environmental temperature (-40 to +40) C . 

  • The altitude can't be over 2000m.

  • Supply frequency (48 to 62) Hz.

  • No place with strenuous vibration.

Structure and characteristic:

Electric Principle:

  • A discharge counter mainly consists of components like sampling varistor, silicon bridge rectifier, high-voltage condenser and electromagnetic counter, etc. The discharge current of lightning arrester generates voltage on the varistor (nonlinear resistance), and charges on condenser through silicon bridge rectifier and discharge to electromagnetic counter. The counter records every time it discharges, so as to realize the operation times of lightning arrester.

  •  The enclosure of this product applies premium stainless steel enclosure. It has good rot resistance and good sealing property, not being influenced by external environment. Inner components have good ageing resistance, which can run in the electric power system for long term.

JSY-11S lightning arrester discharge counter applies dual pointer display. The display has the advantages like clear display and easy observation, etc. The counting cycle index is from 0 to 999, which is to say 1000 times for a cycle. It is beneficial to record the times of lightning of going through the lightning arrester relatively completely in a short time.

Inspection and acceptance & installation:

 Inspection and Acceptance:

  •  When inspect and accept products, open the packing case and inspect whether the accompanying documents (operation manual,packing list and certificate of approval) are complete.

  •  Inspect whether the accessories are complete according to the packing list. Meanwhile, inspect whether the product appearance has scrape and whether the insulator has crack and dropped piece.

When installing, the dig angle between the plane of the panel of counter and the horizontal plane should be smaller than 85° , so as to avoid waterlogging influencing observation. Use M10 bolts to fix the metal enclosure base to the metal support and connect the ground through the ground bus. (The monitor base can also be the ground bus.) Another end connects the electrode through the top of the insulator and connects the low-pressure end of the lightning arrester by wire (or aluminum strip). It must install securely and contact reliably.(Installation dimension please see the attached drawing.)

Test methods:

When users receive products, they can use the below methods to test the products.

  • Operation Performance Test: Connect a condenser with withstand voltage over 500V and capacity over 5MFD to a 500V megger. Rotate the megger with the rotate speed of 90 to 120 per minute to charge the condenser. When the voltage of the condenser is monitored to be 300V by universal meter, disconnect the condenser connecting with the megger. Use the condenser to discharge the counter instantaneously and the discharge counter should count it as once. Perform it for 10 times consecutively and they should be reliable operations.

  • The test of discharge counter can also be performed by the specialized tester produced by our factory. For details please see Instruction of JCQT6000 Lightning Arrester Monitor Tester.

Precautions:

  • After putting the discharge counter into operation, operators on duty shall keep monitoring it and record the reading of the discharge counter regularly, so as to master the times of lightning current going through the lightning arrest.

  • Note to not overstress on the insulator to avoid destroying the sealing. Meanwhile, users can not take apart the lightning arrester discharge counter casually.

On the condition of user using and installing the product according to regulations, the company is responsible for the “Three Guarantees” after-sales service within the period of “Three Guarantees” . The period of “Three Guarantees” is a year. If user has special requirements, he can come and mail for negotiation.

How does a surge arrester counter work?

When a surge current (such as overcurrent caused by lightning) passes through the surge arrester, the arrester operates to divert the surge current into the ground. At the same time, the current sensor in the connected surge arrester counter detects this current signal. The signal generated by the sensor is then converted and processed by the signal processing circuit. After processing, the signal triggers the counting unit to increment the count, causing the displayed number to increase by one, indicating that the arrester has performed one operation.
