What is SF6 Circuit Breaker?
SF6 Circuit breaker definition
SF6 circuit breaker is a high-voltage circuit breaker using SF6 gas as insulation and arc extinguishing medium. SF6 gas has excellent insulation performance and arc extinguishing ability, which makes SF6 circuit breaker become one of the widely used circuit breakers in high voltage power system.
Working principle
The working principle of SF6 circuit breakers is based on the insulation characteristics and arc extinguishing ability of SF6 gas. When the circuit breaker needs to disconnect the circuit, the moving contacts and the static contacts are separated in a chamber filled with SF6 gas, and the arc between the contacts is generated in SF6 gas. Because SF6 gas has extremely high insulation strength and good arc extinguishing performance, the arc is extinguished in a short time, thus cutting off the current. When the circuit needs to be closed again, the contacts re-contact and the circuit recovers.
