Types of Transistors

There are two main types of transistors: Bipolar Junction Transistors (BJTs) and Field Effect Transistors (FETs).

BJTs

These are current-controlled devices with three terminals (Emitter, Base, Collector) and can be further classified into various types like Heterojunction Bipolar Transistors and Darlington Transistors.

FETs

These are voltage-controlled devices with three terminals (Gate, Source, Drain) and include types like MOSFETs and High Electron Mobility Transistors (HEMTs).

Function-Based Types

Transistors can also be classified by their function, such as Small Signal Transistors for amplification and Power Transistors for high power applications.
