Product Detail

Description:

Shunt reactors are connected in a parallel configuration to the power system to compensate for capacitive reactive power of transmission and distribution systems. This ensures that operating voltages are maintained within acceptable operating levels.

Shunt reactors are constructed as either “Oil-Immersed ” or “Dry-Type”.

Dry-Type reactors consist only of encapsulated windings, supported by the appropriate insulators.

Feature:

  • Special “Modular” Design which is more compact.

  •  Good voltage equalizing performance, excellecnt tolerance to transient overvoltage.

  •  No iron core, low vibration, low noise.

  •  Only 20% of the weight of oil reactor, less occupation of land, completely replace the oil reactor, maintenance-free.

  •  Low heat generation, rain proof, bird proof, good weather resistance and more reliable.

  •  Easy assembly and disassembly, fast and convenient transportation, great anti-seismic structure.

  •  Replaces Oil-Immersed shunt reactors and traditional Dry-Type Shunt Reactors.

How does a dry shunt reactor work?

Limiting Overvoltage:

  • In weak electrical systems, when the short-circuit power is relatively low, voltage increases due to capacitive generation. As the network's short-circuit power increases, the magnitude of voltage increase decreases, thereby reducing the need for compensation to limit overvoltage.

Limiting Reactive Power Transfer:

  • Reactors can achieve reactive power balance across different parts of the network. This is especially important in heavily loaded networks where new lines cannot be constructed due to environmental reasons. Reactors used for this purpose are mostly thyristor-controlled to rapidly adapt to the required reactive power. For instance, in industrial areas with arc furnaces, reactive power demand fluctuates between each half-cycle. Typically, a combination of Thyristor-Controlled Reactors (TCR) and Thyristor-Switched Capacitor banks (TSC) is used to absorb and generate reactive power based on instantaneous demand.

Extinguishing Secondary Arcs:

  • During single-phase reclosing in long transmission lines, interphase capacitive coupling can provide a current that sustains the arc, known as the secondary arc. By adding a single-phase reactor at the neutral point, the secondary arc can be extinguished, improving the success rate of single-phase automatic reclosing.

Analysis and Handling of Metering Abnormality of 35 kV Outdoor Combined Transformer
Analysis and Handling of Metering Abnormality of 35 kV Outdoor Combined Transformer
1. IntroductionFrequent occurrences of PT burnout and primary - side fuse melting in combined transformers lead to inaccurate energy meter measurement and seriously threaten the safe operation of the power grid. This paper focuses on the repeated PT damage and fuse melting issues of a 35 kV combined transformer, investigates the fault causes, proposes solutions, and recovers the incorrect electricity quantity through correction coefficients. This effectively reduces grid losses and mitigates ser

Analysis of an Explosion Accident of a 35 kV Voltage Transformer
Voltage transformers (PTs) consist of iron cores and winding coils, working similarly to transformers but with small capacity. They convert high voltage to low voltage for protection, measurement and metering devices, widely used in plants/stations. Classified by insulation: dry - type (≤6 kV), cast - type (indoor 3 - 35 kV), oil - immersed (outdoor ≥35 kV), and SF₆ gas - filled (for combined appliances).During substation operation, accidents from PT electromagnetic resonance or insulation

What Tests Does a Qualified Outdoor Current Transformer Need to Pass?
Hey everyone, I’m Oliver, and I’ve been working in current transformer (CT) testing for 8 years. From running around with test equipment on site to now leading full inspection teams, I’ve seen how thousands of outdoor CTs go through a whole series of tests — like going through a military training camp — before they can finally be put into service.A few days ago, a friend asked me:“Oliver, our factory just produced a new batch of outdoor CTs. What should be noted when selecting and installing outdoor current transformers?
Hey everyone, I'm James, and I've been working with current transformers (CTs) for 10 years. From running around job sites with my mentor, wiring and debugging equipment, to now leading substation projects and handling all kinds of complex CT issues — I’ve worked with a lot of outdoor current transformers over the years. And trust me, I’ve made mistakes, learned from them, and picked up some real-world experience along the way.A few days ago, a fellow engineer asked me:“Ja

What are the methods to reduce the failure rate of outdoor current transformers?
What are the methods to reduce the failure rate of outdoor current transformers?
I. Research Reasons and Background1. Importance of Current TransformersCurrent transformers play the role of current transformation and electrical isolation. They convert the large current of the primary system into a proportional small secondary current, which is supplied to measuring instruments, relay protection, and automatic devices. In the power system, the role of current transformers is irreplaceable and directly plays a key role in the safe and stable operation of the power grid.2. Hars
